Men's Lacrosse 3-0 To Begin British Exhibition Tour

Great Britain – The Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team has started its exhibition tour of England a perfect 3-0 with victories over the Wales Select Team, the South England All-Star Team and the English National Team. Notre Dame will continue its 10-day tour with another game versus the English National Team on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Notre Dame defeated the Wales Select Team 19-2 at the University of Glamorgan in Cardiff, Wales. Sophomore Kyle Frigon and junior Owen Asplundh scored three goals each, while senior Todd Ulrich recorded three assists. Notre Dame led 9-0 at halftime, before cruising to the easy win.

The Irish won their second game of the tour on Sunday, defeating the South England All-Star Team 18-5 at the Hounslow Hockey Club in Chiswick, England, located just outside of London. Notre Dame led 11-2 at the half and was paced by freshman Matt Howell’s three goals. Four other Irish players (junior John Flandina, senior Jon Harvey, senior Steve Bishko and junior Chad DeBolt) scored two goals each in leading the Irish to victory.

On Tuesday, the Irish made it three straight wins with a 12-10 victory over the English National Team at the Stockport Cricket Club in Stockport, England, just outside of Manchester. Notre Dame jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, before the English National Team closed the margin to 7-5 at the half. The Irish then took a 12-7 lead, before giving up three unanswered goals and holding on for the victory. Irish freshman Paul Cappelli scored three goals, while senior Tom Glatzel had three assists.
