VILLANOVA, Pa. – Senior Chris Dusseau and freshman Tom Glatzel each scored three goals and sophomore Dave Ulrich added five assists to lead the 19th-ranked Notre Dame men’s lacrosse to its third straight win with a 14-10 victory over Villanova on Saturday. The Irish jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Villanova tied the game at 4-4 but Notre Dame closed out the first half with four goals to lead 8-4. The Irish improve to 3-1 with the win. and returns to action at fourth-ranked Loyola (Md.) on Sat., March 20, at 12:00 p.m.
Notre Dame outshot Villanova 39-24 and held a 15-13 edge in faceoffs won in the game. The Wildcats collected 37 groundballs to 29 for the Irish. Villanova was flagged for five fouls for 3:30 to just one for 1:00 against Notre Dame.
Villanova cut the Notre Dame lead to 9-7 in the fourth quarter before Dusseau, Glatzel and freshman John Flandina each netted scores to put the Irish ahead 12-7. Ulrich and twin brother Todd Ulrich added goals to complete the scoring for the Irish. Steve Bishko, Sean Meehan, Brad Owen and Chris Young each added a goal for Notre Dame. Jon Harvey, Meehan and Stedman Oakey each had an assist. Goalkeeper Kirk Howell made sevens saves in net for the Irish.
