The Notre Dame men´s lacrosse team scored in the first minute, then rolled to a 23-4 victory over the Czech National Team Sunday in the Stracnice suburb east of downtown Prague.

The game was played on artificial turf at the Slavia Praha athletic facility, with a noon start in breezy conditions under cloudy skies.

Drew Peters scored four goals for the Irish, while Sloan Smith, Mike Podgajny and Colin Fatti had three apiece. Dan Scolaro, Ryan Cunn, Brian Giordano and Alex Wharton each had two goals. Other scores came friom Matt Karweck and Matt Malakoff. Pat Walsh and Wharton both had four assists.

The Irish broke out to a 9-2 lead after the opening period (the game was played under international rules, with 20 minutes running time per period), then held a 17-3 edge at half.

Sean Quigley played in goal for the Irish, with Joey Kemp idled by an Achilles´ problem.

The Czech squad numbered 18 players who come from the nine Czech-based club teams. The Czechs finished second in the European competition in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
