The University of Notre Dame men’s soccer team (13-2-3) will face Ohio State (11-6-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 23, (7:00 p.m.) at Alumni Field in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Men’s College Cup. The Buckeyes advanced to the second round with a 1-0 victory over #11 Memphis on Friday, Nov. 19. The victory was the first NCAA tournament win in Ohio State men’s soccer history.
Notre Dame, the fifth overall seed in the tournament, will be looking to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season on Tuesday. The Irish will be facing Ohio State for the ninth time in school history (first meeting since ’94) and lead the all-time series 7-0-1.
On the other side of Notre Dame’s bracket in the 48-team field, Duke defeated Coastal Carolina 3-0 and advanced to face Old Dominion in the second round.
