NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team finished its dual meet season with win at home against St. Bonaventure 135 – 100. With the victory, the Irish move their record to 5-4 on the season, while the Bonnies drop to 3-6.
Notre Dame started off strong early winning the first three events (400 medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 200 freestyle). The Irish continued their winning ways through the meet as they were victorious in 8 of the 13 events.
Junior Brian Skorney (Staten Island, NY) was a double winner for the Irish as he was victorious in the 200 backstroke (1:55.69) and as lead-off for the 400 medley relay.
Junior Ryan Verlin (Rye, NY) also swam well placing first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.95 and second in the 200 individual medley (1:57.17).
Sophomore Ernie Teo (Singapore, Singapore) of St. Bonaventure was the only triple winner in the meet as he placed first in 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay.
Notre Dame is back in action again in two weeks (February 17-19) when it travels to the 2000 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships in Long Island, NY.
