Menkhaus Sweeps Fly Events At Ohio State Winter Invite

The senior posted season bests in both events

COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a successful final meet of the year for nine Notre Dame women’s swimmers who competed at the Ohio State Winter Invite this weekend. Madeline Menkhaus was the highlight of the meet, as the senior swept the butterfly events (54.52/2:02.00) and went a best time in the 100 back (54.75), taking second place.

Junior Gretchen Lueking had a notable showing as well, winning the 200 IM (2:01.50) for the second year in a row at the meet and going season bests in the 100 free (50.69) and 100 fly (55.39). Fellow junior Lente Geelen took third in the 50 free (23.40), while senior Reese Lugbill placed second in both breaststroke events (1:04.42/2:18.34).

Up next, the remainder of Notre Dame’s women’s swimmers and divers plus junior diver Ben Nguyen head to the 2025 ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The meet runs Feb. 18-22, and the psych sheet can be found here.
