RICHMOND HILL, Ga. – The Notre Dame men’s golf team wrapped up the Ford Collegiate tournament Tuesday afternoon with a seventh place finish and a team score of 826 (-38). The men were led by Nate Stevens and Jack Modleski who both finished in the top-15 and paced the Irish with consistent performances across all three rounds.
Stevens had his best finish of the season with the lowest stroke score of his senior year, posting a three round total of 202 (-8) to place among the top finishers at seventh overall. Stevens was consistent throughout the tournament, opening with a 67 (-3) before adding a 71 (+1) in round two. He capped off the weekend with his best round, a 64 (-6), to secure the under par finish.
Modleski followed closely behind, posting a 206 (-4) across 54 holes with a 15th place finish. Modleski opened with a 68 (-2) and stayed steady with an even par 70 in round two. He closed strong on the final day with a 68 (-2) to finish amongst the top group.
Mike Qui turned in a solid performance, adding a 210 (E) total for the tournament. Qui met his opening round score of 67 (-3) with another 71 (+1) in round two, before finishing with a 72 (+2) on the final day to round out his tournament play.
Rocco Salvitti finished with a 216 (+6). After opening with an even par 70 (E), Salivitti recorded a 75 (+5) in round two before bouncing back with a 71 (+1) in the final round to end on a positive note to help the Irish advance within a top-10 finish.
Christopher Bagnall ended the two-day event with a 217 (+7) finish. He competed in the first round to a 72 (+2) finish, rounded out the second round with his best score of the weekend, 71(+1), and finished with a 74 (+4) score in round three.
Calen Sanderson rounded out the lineup with a 219 (+9). Sanderson opened with a 76 (+6), followed by a 75 (+5) in round two, and closed with a 75 (+5) to complete the tournament.
The Irish are headed into postseason play next week in hopes to extend their season starting with the ACC Championships on April 23-27 in Panama City, Florida.
