SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team picked up a number of awards at the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association convention to wrap up the calendar year.
Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan was named the USILA DI Coach of the Year after guiding the Fighting Irish to their first national title in program history during the 2023 season. Notre Dame finished with a record of 14-2 on the season and defeated top-seeded Duke in the title game on Memorial Day by a score of 13-9 in Philadelphia.
Defensive coordinator Ryan Wellner was named DI Assistant Coach of the Year. Wellner’s defense held teams to fewer than 10 goals in nine of 16 games and was the nation’s best in terms of defensive efficiency.
The Notre Dame lacrosse program also earned the 2023 IMLCA Sticks & Service Award. The honor is presented to the coaching staff which encourages its players to be more active within the community, through lacrosse or other endeavors. The award recognizes a program that goes above and beyond for their community when outside the lines and off the field.
