After a penalty gave the Irish an extra-man opportunity, Notre Dame cashed in with Costabile’s fourth goal of the game to stop the visitor’s run and reestablish a three-goal lead at 12-9. The junior then buried his fifth goal of the game just minutes later to put the Irish on top 13-9 with six minutes left in the game.
Syracuse managed to score its 10th goal of the game with just under two minutes left but the Irish saw the rest of the game out to capture its fifth win of the season.
