CORAL GABLES, Fla. — No. 1 Notre Dame (23-2, 14-0) will escape the snow on Thursday, as the Irish are slated for a matchup with Miami (13-12, 3-11) at the Watsco Center.

The nation’s top team is riding an 18-game win streak, their longest since 2015-16. Notre Dame is also ranked No. 1 for the first time since January 2019 and boasts a 27-4 record all-time as the country’s top team, including Thursday night’s 64-49 win over No. 11 Duke.

In the home matchup against the Blue Devils, Notre Dame overcame a stout Duke defense to score just enough to topple a ranked team for the seventh time this year. All wins have come by 10+ points. While Hannah Hidalgo led Notre Dame with 19 points, Sonia Citron was the spark on both ends of the floor when Notre Dame needed it coming out of the half. She notched a block and 3 steals in the third quarter alone and scored the Irish’s first 6 points of the frame. Citron finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

The Hurricanes are led by first year Miami coach Tricia Cullop, who spent 16 years at Toledo before making the move to the ACC. Scoring-wise, graduate Haley Cavinder is back for another season with Miami and averaging 18.8 points per game with 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

Miami is also now the home of former Notre Dame forward Natalija Marshall, who is averaging 8.2 points per game and has added a deep shot to her versatile list of skills. She ended last year with zero career 3-point attempts but is 28-72 this season (38.9 percent), which leads Miami.

Thursday’s game will air on ACCNX and begin at 7 p.m.
