Molnar & Pozder Earn All-ACC Honors

Molnar named Third Team All-ACC in both Singles & Doubles

CHARLOTTE – It’s end-of-season awards time for the Atlantic Coast Conference, as the league office named its women’s tennis honorees on Thursday. Two Notre Dame student-athletes were recognized, with sophomore Bianca Molnar earning a spot on the Third Team All-ACC Singles. In addition, Molnar and Bojana Pozder were named Third Team All-ACC Doubles honorees. 

Molnar produced a 12-7 singles record in spring dual matches, with a 4-5 mark in ACC play. The California native had the tall task of producing from the No. 1 singles position, where she accumulated 10 wins. 

Furthermore, Molnar recorded four wins against ranked foes, with her top one being a straight-set victory over then No. 16 Johanne Svendsen of Cal. 

Overall for the year, Molnar tallied a 19-11 record, highlighted by her ITA Midwest Regionals runner-up finish in singles. As a result, Molnar qualified for her first NCAA Singles Championships.

As a doubles pair, Molnar and Pozder have produced a 20-10 overall record. They become the first Irish tandem to reach 20 wins as a doubles pair since Quinn Gleason and Monica Robinson in 2015. 

In the fall, Molnar and Pozder became the first Notre Dame pair to win the ITA Midwest Doubles Championship since 2008, thus qualifying for the NCAA Doubles Championships. 

In the spring, Molnar and Pozder went 9-6 in dual matches, with a 3-4 record in ACC matchups. The duo were two-time winners of ACC Doubles Team of the Week. 

In addition, their top win came against No. 10 Amelie Van Impe and Caroline McGinley of SMU. They were ultimately 9-6 overall against ranked opposition.
