Muhari Claims Gold at Doha Epee Grand Prix

DOHA, Qatar – Notre Dame Fencing senior Eszter Muhari claimed Gold at the Doha Epee Grand Prix this past weekend, knocking off 12th-seeded Alexandra Louis Marie of France 15-5.

Muhari, a 2024 Olympian, was seeded sixth at the Grand Prix, putting her directly into the Table of 64 and claimed plenty of key victories over some of the world’s best.

In the Round of 64, Muhari defeated 59th seed Minn Ji Wong of Korea 15-11. She followed that up with a 15-13 win over 38th seed Jolie Korfonta of the United States to advance to the Round of 16.

After taking care of 22nd seed Lim Taehee of Korea 15-11, Muhari had a matchup setup with 4th seed Alberta Santuccio of Italy to advance to the semifinals.

The Irish senior prevailed, winning 14-13 in the quarterfinals and 15-14 in the semifinals over 47th seed Anna Maksymenko of Ukraine before eventually winning Gold.

A two-time Women’s Epee Individual National Champion, Muhari will look to continue her success at the college ranks when Notre Dame hosts the 2026 NCAA Fencing National Championships at the Castellan Family Fencing Center inside the Joyce Center.
