Muzzatti Picks Up First Big Ten Nod Of His Career

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — After a career-high weekend that included a nation’s best five points, University of Notre Dame hockey’s graduate forward Sutter Muzzatti was named Big Ten Second Star of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.

Muzzatti leads the team with nine points on the season following his five-point series against the Robert Morris Colonials. In game one of the series, Muzzatti posted a career-best four points off two goals and two assists before following up his performance with a third period goal Saturday night.

His four points Friday led the team to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Colonials and marked his second multi-goal effort with the Irish.

On Saturday, Muzzatti net the lone powerplay goal of the contest, extending the team’s streak to six games with a powerplay tally as the Irish boast one of the nation’s top powerplay percentages, clocking in at .304.

The centerman also helped his team to their best face-off average since at least 2013, registering 10 wins individually Friday night en route to the team’s 44-15 route of the Colonials at the dot in game one. Muzzatti finished the weekend with a .678 average, winning 21 of 31 attempts over the two-game stretch.

In six games played for the Irish, Muzzatti has tallied at least one point in all but one contest and his 1.50 points per game average ranks among the top-10 in all NCAA Division I men’s hockey.

The Second Star of the Week honor is the first Big Ten recognition of Muzzatti’s career and Notre Dame’s first honoree of the 2025-26 season.

Muzzatti and the rest of the Irish return to the ice this weekend as they open conference play against Big Ten foe Michigan, October 31-November 1.
