Muzzatti Tabbed Third Star Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After his four-point night lifted the Irish hockey program to a win over Ohio State Saturday, Sutter Muzzatti has been named Third Star of the Week by the Big Ten as announced by the conference Tuesday.

Muzzatti’s two goals along with a pair of assists powered Notre Dame to the 6-1 victory and weekend split at home against the Buckeyes. The four-points tied a career best and was his second four-point endeavor of the season.

Early in the second period Saturday night Muzzatti net his first goal of the game to give the Irish the 3-0 lead, finding the back of the net just 49 seconds after the team jumped out to a 2-0 and eventual game-winner off the stick of Pano Fimis.

As a member of the first powerplay unit, Muzzatti helped lead special teams play to a trio of powerplay goals, the most for an Irish squad since January 20, 2024 against Penn State. On the ice for all three tallies, Muzzatti assisted on one before netting his own on the man-advantage partway through the third to provide the 6-1 final.

His four point night led the nation while he ranked third among all Big Ten skaters for total points on the weekend (2-2-4).

Additionally, the centerman boasted 19 faceoff wins over the two game stretch, leading his team with a 59.4 average against the Buckeyes.
