NOTRE DAME RESUMES QUEST FOR 2007 POSTSEASON – The Notre Dame baseball team (27-21, 10-10 BIG EAST) faces a big challenge this weekend in a series at Louisville, as the Irish look to move closer to clinching a spot in the eight-team BIG EAST Tournament … the Irish could clinch a spot as early as Saturday, with a sweep of Saturday’s doubleheader and a loss by UConn vs. West Virginia … ND essentially has a magic number of “2” vs. three teams (WVU, Seton Hall and Georgetown) while the Irish need a combination of 3 ND wins/UConn losses to clinch a higher finish than the Huskies … ND and Louisville split four games in the 2006 season, with the Cardinals taking 2-of-3 at Eck Stadium (3-11, 5-4, 9-6) before Notre Dame shut out Louisville in the BIG EAST championship game (7-0) … the 2006 ND-Louisville series marked one of just five times that the visitors have won a BIG EAST series from the Irish. …
