OXFORD, Miss. – The Notre Dame track and field squads wrapped up competition Saturday at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss.
Men’s High Jump: Blair Majcina finished eighth at 2.00m (6-6 3/4), while Doug Onuscheck was 11th with a mark of 1.90m (6-2 3/4).
Men’s Pole Vault: Brian Mahon cleared a height of 4.55m (14-11) to finish tied for sixth, just adead of Andrew Kolbeck who tied for ninth with a mark of 4.40m (14-5 1/4).
Men’s Long Jump: Eric Quick finished second with a 7.45m (24-5) mark, while Connor Paladino was 29th at 6.02m (19-09).
Men’s Triple Jump: Eric Quick recorded a mark of 14.80m (48-6) to finish sixth.
Men’s Discus Throw: Andrew Hills finished 15th with a toss of 40.94m (134-04), followed by John Belcher in 18th at 39.11m (128-04).
Men’s Shot Put: John Belcher finished third with a mark of 16.87m (55-4 1/4), just ahead of Denes Veres in fifth at 16.28m (53-5). Andrew Hills finished ninth at 15.40m (50-6 14/) and Greg Davis was 18th at 14.15m (46-5 1/4).
Men’s Hammer Throw: Greg Davis finished fourth with a mark of 53.21m (174-07), while John Belcher was fifth at 51.57m (169-02), Jeff Mensch was seventh at 51.50m (168-11), Mitchell Gormley finished eighth with a mark of 51.39m (168-07) and Andrew Hills was 18th at 42.99m (141-00).
Men’s Javelin Throw: Tray Morgan finished 11th with a mark of 48.61m (159-06).
Men’s 100 Meters: Miklos Szebeny finished 22nd with a time of 10.86, Chandler Brooks was 26th in 10.98 and Tyrell Atkins finished 28th at 10.91.
Men’s 200 Meters: Chandler Brooks finished 48th in 22.25.
Men’s 400 Meters: Edward Hitchler finished 18th in 48.99, Billy Buzaid was 20th at 49.17, Alex Korenstra finished 26th at 49.57 and Cameron Eckert finished 40th with a time of 50.59.
Men’s 800 Meters: The Irish took nine of the top 12 spots, with Blake Choplin leading the way in first at 1:49.85. Jack Howard was second in 1:50.03, Randall Babb was third in 1:51.30, Kevin Labus was fourth in 1:51.52 and Daniel Clark finished fifth in 1:51.96. Johnathan Shawel finished seventh with a time of 1:52.24, Jordan Carlson was eighth in 1:52.65, Ryan Gamboa finished 11th in 1:53.21 and Spencer Carter was 12th with a time of 1:53.78.
Men’s 1500 Meters: Jake Walker finished second with a time of 3:51.81, while Paul Springer finished 14th in 4:02.83.
Men’s 3000-Meter Steeplechase: Joe Miller won the event in 9:23.93, followed by Kelly Lynch in second at 9:29.23.
Men’s 400-Meter Hurdles: Balazs Molnar finished fourth in 52.61, while Matthew Brown was 17th in 55.44.
Men’s 4×100-Meter Relay: Notre Dame finished eighth in 41.35.
Men’s 4×400-Meter Relay: Notre Dame’s `A’ squad finished fourth in 3:12.65, while the Irish `B’ team finished 10th in 3:16.17.
Women’s Long Jump: Jasmine Williams finished 13th in 5.47m (17-11), while Jaime Minor was 15th in 5.43m (17-09).
Women’s Triple Jump: Jaime Minor finished ninth with a mark of 11.81m (38-09).
Women’s Discus Throw: Jaclyn Espinoza won the event with a mark of 51.21m (168-00).
Women’s Shot Put: Jaclyn Espinoza finished ninth with a mark of 14.39m (47-2 1/2).
Women’s Javelin Throw: Elise Knutzen finished third with a toss of 42.55m (139-07).
Women’s 800 Meters: Abby Higgins finished third with a time of 2:11.88, Marissa Treece was sixth in 2:14.26, Molly Hirt finished 17th in 2:18.68, Dominique Taylor was 19th with a time of 2:19.56 and Molly Sullivan finished 21st in 2:21.50.
Women’s 1500 Meters: Marissa Treece led the Irish with a time of 4:29.11 to finish second. Molly Hirt finished fifth in 4:35.89, Elizabeth McMahon was seventh in 4:43.68 and Molly Sullivan clocked in at 4:51.39 to finish 20th.
Women’s 3000-Meter Steeplechase: Alissa Ott finished ninth with a time of 11:49.82.
Women’s 5000 Meters: Heidi Rocha finished first in 17:15.51, Theresa Cattuna clocked in at 17:32.52 to finish third and Susanna Sullivan finished seventh in 18:17.27.
Women’s 100-Meter Hurdles: Kali Watkins finished sixth in 14.17, while Sasha Blanchard finished 31st in 17.28.
Women’s 400-Meter Hurdles: Nicole Yergler finished ninth with a time of 1:04.00, Sasha Blanchard was 15th in 1:06.90 and Kali Watkins finished 24th in 1:10.97.
The Irish squads will compete at the Mt. SAC and Central Collegiate meets next week.
