Post-Game Notes

  • This is the 23rd meeting all-time between Notre Dame and Connecticut. The Irish are now 7-16 against the Huskies.
  • Notre Dame recorded its fourth-straight 20-win season and the seventh under head coach Mike Brey. The last time the Irish recorded four straight 20-win seasons was from 1983-89 when Digger Phelps’ squads recorded six straight.
  • The Irish honored seniors Tim Andree, Luke Harangody, Tory Jackson and Jonathan Peoples by winning their fifth-straight Senior Night game.
  • The win over the Huskies marked the first Irish victory since a 73-67 win on Jan. 5, 2008. Connecticut had won the four previous meetings in the series coming into tonight’s contest.
  • The Irish allowed just 50 points, the fewest scored by Connecticut in the series. The previous low was 61 points in a win over the Irish at Hartford, Conn., on Feb. 23, 2004.
  • Connecticut’s 50 total points were the fewest allowed by the Irish at Purcell Pavilion since Notre Dame’s 54-38 win over Charleston Southern on Nov. 26, 2004.
  • The 50 points scored by the Huskies were the fewest allowed by the Irish all season.
  • The Irish have hit at least one three-pointer in 369 consecutive games, dating back to the 1998-99 season.
  • Notre Dame’s 17 first-half points were the fewest scored in any half under Mike Brey.
  • The Irish recorded their lowest first-half scoring output of the season, totaling just 17 points in the first half.
  • Notre Dame recorded its lowest shooting percentage of any half this season with its 23.5 percent clip in the first half against the Huskies.
  • The Irish held Connecticut to just 20 points in the first half, the fewest points Notre Dame has allowed in any half of a BIG EAST game this season and the second-lowest total the Irish have allowed overall (16 by North Florida).
  • The 20 points scored by the Huskies ties their lowest first-half total all season.
  • Senior guard Tory Jackson is now second all-time in Irish history with 131 games played in his career. Jackson is also third all-time with 117 career starts.
  • With his two assists against Connecticut, Jackson moved into sole possession of fifth place on the BIG EAST Conference’s all-time assists list with 391 in league games during his career.
  • Jackson scored at least 20 points for the second time this season and notched double figures for the 12th time in 2009-10.
  • Senior guard Jonathan Peoples took over sole possession of eighth place on Notre Dame’s all-time games played list with 125.
  • Junior forward Carleton Scott notched his first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against Connecticut. Scott scored in double figures for the second straight game.
