Men’s Tennis Earns 15 Wins At The Harvard Chowder Fest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team concluded Saturday’s Chowder Fest Tournament in Cambridge, Mass. with a 15-2 record on the day, earning nine singles and six doubles victories at the Beren Tennis Center. The Irish moved to a combined to 21-5 in the tournament.

Six members of the Irish squad battled South Carolina and finished undefeated singles play. Seniors Stephen Havens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Hill Christian) and Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan), junior Niall Fitzgerald (Wicklow Ireland/Blackrock College), sophomores Michael Moore (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and Spencer Talmadge (Hillsborough, Calif./Junipero Serra) and freshman Billy Pecor (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) enter the final day of the tournament with intact records.

Notre Dame recorded six doubles victories as Havens and Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan) defeated Christo Schultz and Johnathan Pearlman of Harvard, 9-8 and Harry Menzies and Ivan Machado of South Carolina. David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and Sam Keeton (Kansas City, Mo./The Pembroke Hill) earned a victory against Harvard’s Will Macnamee and Mac McAnulty, 9-8.

Pecor and Greg Andrews (Richland, Mich./Gull Lake) posted a win against Henry Walker and Jake Bowling of South Carolina, 8-0. Anderson and Moore defeated Harvard’s Brendan Seaver and John Thornton, while Fitzgerald and Talmadge earned a win against Minnesota’s Brendan Ruddock and Derek Peterson.

The teams will begin the final day of the Chowder Fest Tournament with singles action schedule to begin at 9:00 a.m. (EDT), followed by doubles and another round of singles.
