Irish Conclude Fall Slate At The Tribe Invitational And Alabama Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va./TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team concluded its fall season on a high-note, placing two student-athletes on the Tribe Invitational all-tournament team Sunday (Nov. 7) at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va. The Irish competing at the Alabama were as successful as captain Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan) winning the Stallings draw and senior Sean Tan (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) and freshman Ryan Bandy (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) capturing the white doubles draw.

Senior Stephen Havens (Cinncinnati, Ohio/Hill Christian) and Billy Pecor (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) earned all-tournament honors in both singles and doubles play after teaming-up for the three-day tournament.

Havens battled College of Chrleston’s Kyle Parker for a win in a three-set match (5-7, 6-0, 10-8). Pecor handled Lukas Koncilia of College of Charleston 6-3 and 6-2. The pair later downed William & Mary’s John Banks and Adrian Vodislav 8-5.

At the Alabama Invitational left-hander Davis claimed the Stallings singles draw, defeating Virginia Tech’s Lucas Oliveira in a three-set match (7-5, 6-7, 6-2) in the final round of play.

Tan and Bandy battled Josh McTaggart and Stephen Vogl of Indiana in a 9-7 decision to advance to the final round of the white doubles draw. In the finals the duo bested Alex DiValerio and Bryan Salcedo from Vanderbilt 9-7.

The Irish open their dual season on Jan. 28 when they return to Williamsburg, Va. to battle William & Mary.
