NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team looks for its third straight win Friday when it welcomes No. 24 Purdue for a 4 p.m. contest inside the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

The No. 18 Irish (5-1) are coming off an 11-day layoff after winning a dramatic 4-3 decision at Iowa Feb. 4. Notre Dame trailed the Hawkeyes 3-0 before claiming the final four singles points, improving its season record to an impressive 4-0 in matches decided by one point.

Senior captain Chrissie McGaffigan and sophomore Molly O’Koniewski are off to red-hot starts for the Irish in singles competition, as each player is a perfect 5-0 to open the 2013 season. Freshman Quinn Gleason is in the midst of a four-match winning streak at the No. 3 singles court, and is 5-1 in her first season as a member of the Irish.

Purdue (2-1) enters play Friday fresh off a 6-1 victory at Marshall Feb. 9. Notre Dame leads the all-time series against the Boilermakers 22-5, and has won eight of the past 10 meetings with Purdue. Irish head coach Jay Louderback is 17-2 against the Boilermakers in his Notre Dame career.
