NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team has been ranked 14th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in its preseason poll released today. The Irish, who finished last season with a No. 13 ranking and a 21-10 record, are the fourth-highest ranked team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, following No. 3 Virginia, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 12 Duke.

The Fighting Irish also had two doubles pairs and two singles players rank nationally. Senior Billy Pecor and junior Alex Lawson rank No. 8 as a tandem, followed by the No. 9 pairing of sophomores Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar to make the Irish the only program with two pairs in the top 10. Both duos advanced to quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in early November.

Junior Quentin Monaghan (No. 37) and Hagar (No. 82) also appear on the singles charts.

The Irish kick off the season starting Friday at the Morgan Run Hidden Duals in Rancho Santa Fe, California before beginning the dual season the following week at No. 18 Kentucky. For the latest on Irish men’s tennis, be sure to follow along on Facebook and Twitter (@NDMensTennis).
