STANFORD, Calif. — Anna Rohrer and the University of Notre Dame track and field team saved the best race for last on Friday, when Rohrer ran the seventh-fastest 10,000m race in NCAA history at the Stanford Invitational.
Rohrer ran her first career 10,000m race in 31:58, setting a new Irish school record and recording the fastest time of any female in the world this year. Rohrer, who is coming off of an Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship in the 5,000m, blew by several professional athletes in the race.
Rohrer broke nine-time All-American Molly Huddle’s school record time of 32:37.87, trimming 39 seconds off of the mark.
Graduate student Molly Seidel returned to the track in Section 2 of the 10,000m, finishing in the top spot with a time of 33:19.60.
Sophomore Annie Heffernan (16:27.78) placed second in the 5,000m race, marking the first of her career on the track. Graduate student Danielle Aragon (4:15.69) finished third in the 1,500m.
Senior Christopher Marco ran the 1,500m in 3:43.98, which is a personal record, the top time in the ACC this season and currently ranks 14th nationally. In his first collegiate 1,500m race, freshman Ryan Schweizer came in seventh with a time of 3:52.11.
At the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, sophomore Zachary Zajdel (10.78) led Notre Dame with a 74th-place finish in the 100m, followed by senior Tommy Grant (10.84). Freshmen Kyla Lewis (11.87) and Michaela Butler (12.19) came in 50th and 72nd overall in the women’s 100m race.
The women’s 4x400m relay of juniors Payton Miller and Jordan Shead and freshmen Grace Cronin and Summer Thorpe finished 17th with a time of 3:46.89.
Thorpe, Lewis, Butler and freshman Naya Sharp (46.86) ran to a 24th-place finish in the 4x100m relay.
Thorpe (13.85) recorded a personal record and placed 20th in the 100m hurdles, while freshman Naya Sharp (14.21) came in 37th.
Junior Hunter Holton finished sixth (2.05m) in the men’s long jump, and senior Anthony Shivers finished fifth (53.95m) in the discus.
Junior Payton Miller (55.03) raced to fifth-place in the 400m dash, while freshman Grace Cronin (1:03.64) finished seventh in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Bobcat Invitational.

Saturday’s Bobcat Invitational Preview
Texas State’s Bobcat Invitational wraps up on Saturday, when several Irish student-athletes will sprint in the 200m dash. Freshmen Naya Sharp, Michaela Butler and Summer Thorpe, sophomores Kyla Lewis, Zachary Zajdel and Edward Cheatham and senior Tommy Grant will each run in the 200m at 5:45 p.m. ET.
Senior Taylor Craft will race in the 100m hurdles alongside freshmen Grace Cronin and Madysen Hunter. Craft also will compete in the triple jump at 1 p.m. ET.

Saturday’s Stanford Preview
The final day of the Stanford Invitational begins on Saturday, when graduate student Danielle Aragon, senior Jamie Marvil, juniors Jessica Harris and Stephanie Knight and sophomore Kelly Hart will race in the 800m.
Aragon will race in her second 800m in as many weekends after placing seventh overall (2:09.84) at the Raleigh Relays last weekend.
Graduate student Eric Gebeke, freshmen Clay Goldman and Ryan Schweizer, junior Kirk Hansen and seniors Christopher Marco and Patrick O’Connell will suit up for the 800m.
