Delgado in Fourth Place at ACC Championships

NEW LONDON, N.C. – With inclement weather threatening on Friday, the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship squeezed in both the first and second rounds on Thursday at the Old North State Club. Notre Dame finished the day in ninth place at two-under par.

Miguel Delgado continued his hot spring campaign, shooting in the 60’s in both rounds today. Delgado carded a 69 (-3) earlier this afternoon, then improved in the evening to score a 68 (-4). The senior is tied for fourth place at seven-under par and sits just six strokes back from leader, Andy Ogletree of Georgia Tech.

ROUND ONE 
Notre Dame sat in a tie for seventh place at the completion of round one, firing off a 286 (-2). Delgado nearly recorded a clean sheet, with the only bogey coming on the par-four fifth. Otherwise, the senior notched birdies on holes 14, 18, one and six, carding a 69 (-3), which was good for 11^th place at the time.

Davis Lamb also finished under-par for the round. Like Delgado, Lamb had a clean sheet going until the fifth hole, where he suffered what would be back-to-back bogeys. All-in-all, Lamb shot a solid 71 (-1) for the round.

Andrew O’Leary came hot out of the gates with birdies on 10, 13 and 14, ultimately finishing two-under on the back-nine. O’Leary captured five total birdies for the round and ended with an even-par 72.

Both John Felitto and Taichi Kho posted two birdies for the round and finished with a 74 (+2) and 75 (+3), respectively.

ROUND TWO 
Delgado leaped seven spots in the standings over round two thanks to his 68 (-4). The California native once again had a clean sheet on the back half, going two-under, before capturing a trio of birdies on the front, with the only blemish being a bogey on three.

O’Leary was poised for an under-par round before running into trouble on the par-three seventh, where he double-bogeyed. As a result, the freshman carded a 73 (+1).

Lamb experienced an up-and-down round in which he captured five birdies, but five bogeys and a double-bogey as well, ending his day with a 74 (+2). Both O’Leary and Lamb are tied for 28^th at one-over par for the tournament.

Felitto started his second round with a birdie on 10 then went plus-six on the next five holes. Felitto was able to compose himself and fire off three straight birdies to end the back-nine. The junior went on to finish one-under on the front to shoot a 73 (+1). Overall, Felitto is three-over and in 43^rd place.
