#3 Seed Irish Meet No. 6 Duke in ACC Quarterfinals

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — No. 6 Notre Dame meets #15/18 Duke in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship on Wednesday, April 24th. Opening draw is set for 8 p.m. ET at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The contest will be televised on RSN and streamed live on ACC Network Extra and Fox Sports GO.

THE DUKE SERIES

• Wednesday marks the 19th meeting between the Irish and Blue Devils, with Duke holding an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series.
• The Irish have won four straight contests vs. Duke dating back to April 16, 2016, including a 15-7 victory earlier this season in Durham on April 14th.
• In that win, Andie Aldave led the Irish with six points (4G, 2A) and eight draw controls.
• This is the first meeting between the two schools in the ACC Championship.

FOUR IRISH MAKE FIRST TEAM ALL-ACC

• Sophomore midfielder Andie Aldave, senior goaltender Samantha Giacolone, sophomore attacker Maddie Howe and senior defender Hannah Proctor were each named to the All-ACC First Team, the conference announced on Tuesday, April 21st.
• The Irish matched top-ranked Boston College for the most first-team selections.
• Notre Dame is also the only team in the ACC to have players at all four positions to earn first team honors.
• The four First-Team All-ACC selections are the most the Irish have earned since joining the conference in 2014.
• Giacolone earns All-ACC First Team accolades for the second consecutive season, while Proctor earns All-ACC recognition for the second straight year after being named to the second team in 2018.

NATIONAL LEADERS

• Entering the ACC Championship, the Irish find themselves in the top five of a number of statistical categories.
• Notre Dame currently sits third in the nation with a draw control percentage of 64.4%.
• The Irish are fourth in the country in save percentage (.519), scoring defense (7.31) and margin of victory (8.13).
• Notre Dame leads the ACC in scoring defense and margin of victory in addition to marks of 11.88 caused turnovers per game, 20.25 ground balls per game and 26.88 shots on goal per game.
• Goaltender Samantha Giacolone ranks fourth in the country and leads the ACC with a 7.75 goals-against average. Giacolone’s .509 save percentage also sits seventh in the nation.
• Andie Aldave ranks sixth in the nation and leads the ACC with an average of 8.00 draw controls per game.
• Maddie Howe also ranks 10th in the country and second in the ACC with a free position percentage of 65%.

SIX IRISH ON TEWAARATON WATCH LIST

• Senior defenders Makenna Pearsall and Hannah Proctor were added to the watch list for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award, the foundation announced on Thursday, April 11.
• The duo joins sophomore midfielder Andie Aldave, junior midfielder Savannah Buchanan, senior goaltender Samantha Giacolone and sophomore attacker Maddie Howe on the watch list for the award, which honors the top women’s lacrosse player in the country.
• The top-25 finalists for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award, which honors the top women’s lacrosse player in the country, will be announced on Thursday, April 25.
• Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced on May 9 and invited to the 18th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, which will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 30.

• On Wednesday, April 10 vs. Butler, Samantha Giacolone earned her 45th career victory, the most by any goaltender in Irish history.
• On Sunday, March 24 at Syracuse, Samantha Giacolone passed Ellie Hilling to become the program’s all-time leader in saves. She currently has 580 stops in her career.
• Giacolone is also ranked second in Irish history in goals-against average (9.39) and minutes played (4,070).
• On Sunday, April 7 vs. Virginia Tech, sophomore Andie Aldave broke her own single-season program record for draw controls. She currently has 128 in 2019, and 226 for her career. She enters the contest second to Barbara Sullivan (261) for most career draw controls in program history.
• Junior midfielder Savannah Buchanan enters the contest fourth in program history in career draw controls with 168.
• Notre Dame is ranked #6 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, Inside Lacrosse/Cascade Media poll and the Nike Lacrosse/US Lacrosse poll.
• Notre Dame is 10th in the RPI.
