SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Just over two weeks away from the start of the 2022 baseball season, the Notre Dame baseball team has been picked third in the Atlantic Division in the preseason coaches poll.
The Irish slot into third with 70 points, behind NC State (76) and preseason conference favorite Florida State (88). The Seminoles were selected as the conference favorite after receiving eight votes to win the league. The Irish earned two votes to win the conference and three votes to finish first in the Atlantic Division.
In 2021, Notre Dame claimed their first ACC regular season title after being selected to finish seventh in the Atlantic Division in the preseason poll. The Irish finished 25-10 in the ACC and were four games higher than the second place team in the league. It was the first regular season conference title for Notre Dame since 2006.
The Irish will begin the 2022 season at the Hatter Classic in DeLand, Florida on Friday, February 18. The Irish open the season against Manhattan at 7 p.m. ET and the game will be aired on Stetson’s Youtube Channel.
