ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Notre Dame softball team fell in heartbreaker fashion Saturday afternoon, losing on a walkoff single to Georgia Tech. The Irish fell 3-4 to the Yellow Jackets and are now 7-11 on the year and 0-2 in ACC play.

In the top of the second, Kaia Cortes launched her first home run of the season, and the fifth of her career. The Irish first baseman also drew a walk.

Mickey Winchell shined offensively for the Irish with two hits, one of them a double, and a walk offensively. Ava Zachary and Hayden Kyne both drove in runs as well.

Micaela Kastor made her seventh start of the season and struck out four Yellow Jackets. But Georgia Tech’s offense collected nine hits and drew four walks, creating traffic all afternoon in the eventual win.

Notre Dame closes the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
