Dominko & Gregg Take Home All-ACC Awards

CHARLOTTE – The Atlantic Coast Conference released its annual end-of-season men’s tennis awards on Thursday, and a pair of Notre Dame student-athletes took home awards in both singles and doubles. Senior Sebastian Dominko earned First Team All-ACC Singles, while graduate Perry Gregg achieved Third Team status. Together, the duo took home Third Team All-ACC Doubles honors. 

 

What an illustrious career it’s been for Dominko, and he’s not done yet. A now four-time All-ACC Singles honoree, including three straight on the First Team. He’s also now a four-time All-ACC Doubles selection. 

With that said, Dominko officially becomes the first Notre Dame student-athlete to win All-ACC Singles, let alone doubles, all four years. Notre Dame joined the ACC ahead of the 2013-14 season. The last player to achieve all-conference honors all four years was Quentin Monaghan, who split time between the Big East (2013) and the ACC (2014, 15, 16). 

This past spring, Dominko went 14-4 in singles dual matches, including a 7-2 mark in ACC regular-season play. Diving deeper, Dominko earned a 10-5 record against ranked opponents, including two wins over top-25 opponents. 

Including the fall campaign, Dominko compiled a 23-7 overall record, which was highlighted by his fourth consecutive berth to the NCAA Singles Championships. 

Next, how about transfer Perry Gregg? From NAIA Senior Player of the Year at Holy Cross, to an All-ACC honoree the following year, taking on some of the nation’s best at the Division-I level. 

Gregg tallied the most dual singles wins on the team, recording a 16-3 record. He also posted the most wins on the team in ACC play, going 8-2. Against ranked foes, Gregg was 5-5, with his best win coming against then No. 12 Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois. 

Combining fall play, Gregg has achieved a 26-7 overall record. 

As a doubles team, Dominko & Gregg have come on strong late in the spring after being paired together. Dominko & Gregg have posted a 6-2 record, with a 5-0 mark in the No. 1 position. Most recently, the Irish duo went 2-0 at the ACC Tournament, knocking off doubles pairs ranked No. 34 and No. 45.
