Keith ‘81 and Janet Sherin of Naples, Florida, have made a gift to the University of Notre Dame to endow the team locker room inside Jack and Kathy Shields Family Hall, the new operational home of the Fighting Irish football program.
The cutting-edge Sherin Family Locker Room contains 114 player lockers as well as 12 alumni lockers for those in the NFL who come back to workout regularly in the offseason.
Keith earned a Monogram as a senior manager for the Notre Dame football team before graduating from the College of Science in 1981. He went on to receive an MBA from Columbia University in 1991. Keith had a 35 year career at General Electric where he was the Chief Financial Officer for 15 years and he retired as Chairman and CEO of GE Capital. Janet has 13 siblings and she runs a floral business in Cape Cod with her sisters called 7 Sisters Florals.
The Sherins are longtime supporters of Notre Dame Athletics and the University. Among their many involvements, they are members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Badin Guild and Friends of Ted & Ned through the Rockne Athletics Fund’s Jesse Harper Council. Janet is also a member of Hesburgh Women of Impact. The couple has three children: Maggie, Zach and Jake.

Jack and Kathy Shields Family Hall officially opened on July 31. The state-of-the-art facility, coupled with the existing Guglielmino Athletics Complex, will accommodate the needs of the University’s premier athletics programs. The new space will foster team building and personal growth, improve physical conditioning and technical ability, and enable the College of Science and Notre Dame Research to partner with Athletics in the study of human performance, sports science, medicine and nutrition.
