SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Notre Dame volleyball team continues its road trip this weekend with a trio of games at the Steve Baumrind Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. The Irish will face Northern Kentucky Friday at 4:30 p.m., Duquesne at 11:00 a.m Saturday. and cap off the weekend at College of Charleston at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Sunday’s match will be streamed on FloCollege.
This weekend marks the final three games of a five-game stretch away from Purcell Pavilion. The Irish are currently 1-1 on the road trip after beating Toledo last Saturday.
Sydney Helmers continues to pace Notre Dame offensively, leading the team with 62 kills. Her 3.65 kills per set are ranked tenth in the ACC and she had her first double-double with a career-best 22 kills and 16 digs in the win over Toledo.
In the middle, Anna Bjork has a strong start to her junior campaign. The Oconomowoc, Wisconsin native leads the team with 18 total blocks and a .419 hitting percentage to go along with 23 kills.
The Irish are 5-0 all-time against this weekend’s opponents, with a pair of wins over Northern Kentucky and College of Charleston and a lone win over Duquesne.
Notre Dame last played Northern Kentucky on September 14, 2019, taking down the Norse in four sets. The Irish haven’t faced Duquesne since the 1992 season, while the matchup against the College of Charleston is the first since the 2007 campaign.
