GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - The University of Notre Dame men’s golf team opened the 2026-27 season at the fifth-annual Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club which began on Monday, Sept. 7 and concluded on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Notre Dame finished tied for second after the three round tournament, firing a 13-under 839. Georgia Tech won the event with a score of 18-under 834 and tied Texas (13-under 839).
The Fighting Irish were the most consistent team in the field, as they were the only program to finish all three rounds under par as a team.
Individually Jacob Modleski led the way for Notre Dame, picking up his first top-five finish of the season with a 6-under 207 to finish fifth. Teammate Liam Pasternak was just behind, tying for sixth overall with a 5-under 208.
Peyton Blackard also finished in the top 15 for the week with a 2-under 211 to tie for 14th place.
ROUND ONE
The Fighting Irish got off to a strong start in their opening round of the 2026-27 campaign, carding a 4-under 280 on Monday. Notre Dame was in third after the first round of action, trailing Georgia Tech (12-under 272) and the hosts Michigan State (5-under 279).
Modleski set the tone for the Irish, posting a score of 3-under over the first 18 holes of play, highlighted by an eagle on the 553-yard, par five sixth hole. The senior was tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard after the first round.
Blackard was also in the red following the first day of play, recording a 1-under 70. Mike Qiu, Liam Pasternak and Rocco Salvitti each finished the first round at even par with 71s to round out a solid opening day.
ROUND TWO
Notre Dame attacked the course on Tuesday, as Modleski, Qiu, Pasternak and Blackard combined to record 13 birdies during the second day of action at the tournament. The team’s round of 7-under 277 was the second-best round of the day, moving the Irish into a tie for second place with No. 15 Texas at 11-under and just one back of No. 25 Georgia Tech.
Modleski matched his opening round score with another 3-under 68 to move to 6-under for the tournament, placing him tied for second on the leaderboard with two other competitors and just one shot behind the leader. The Noblesville, Indiana, product finished the day with four birdies and just one bogey.
Qiu joined Modleski on the leaderboard, also finishing with a 3-under 68 on the round to jump into 8th place overall. The junior totaled four birdies with just one bogey on Tuesday to move up the leaderboard.
Pasternak also finished under par for the day, carding a 1-under 70. The sophomore tallied two birdies and 15 pars with a steady performance on day two. Blackard and Salvitti each recorded second-round scores of even par with 71s.
ROUND THREE
The Irish finished the season-opening tournament with a 2-under 282 to close out the event, putting Notre Dame in the red for all three rounds.
Pasternak shot the low round of the day for the Irish, saving his best round for last with a 4-under 67. The sophomore posted six birdies on the day and moved up to finish tied for sixth in the individual competition with a 5-under for the week.
Blackard matched his best round of the tournament with a 1-under 70 on Wednesday afternoon to finish the 2-under over the three rounds. Modleski had a tough start to his round with back-to-back bogeys but battled back to shoot even par for the round to finish 6-under for the week. Qiu rounded out the Irish that scored on Wednesday with a 3-over 74 to finish the tournament at even par.

The Irish are back in action next week at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at the Oviinbyrd Golf Club in Foot’s Bay, Ontario. Day one of competition starts on Sunday, Sept. 13 and the invite wraps up on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
