Moore Selected To Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Named Wuerffel Trophy Semifinalist
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior cornerback Leonard Moore has been named a member of the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which honors 22 college football players and one head coach for their extraordinary commitment to community service.
As part of the selection to the team, Moore is now a semifinalist for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, presented annually by the Wuerffel Foundation to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership and performance on and off the field. Moore is the fourth Notre Dame player in as many years to be named a semifinalist for the award.
An unanimous All-American, Moore is the 12th Notre Dame player in history to be selected for the Good Works Team, as Notre Dame’s most recent selections include offensive lineman Aamil Wagner in 2025, linebacker Jack Kiser in 2024, linebacker JD Bertrand in 2022 and defensive lineman Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa in 2021. Dick Corbett Head Football coach Marcus Freeman was selected as the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Honorary Head Coach for his commitment to service.
Moore is the fourth Notre Dame semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy in the past four years. Notre Dame has had one winner of the Wuerffel Trophy: linebacker Drue Tranquill in 2018. The Irish have had several finalists, including two in the past three years – linebacker JD Bertrand in 2023 and linebacker Jack Kiser in 2024. Tranquill was also a finalist in 2017, and linebacker Brandon Hoyte was a finalist in 2005. Aamil Wagner was a semifinalist last season in 2025.
Moore leads initiatives to combat chronic absenteeism and inspire student success through mentorship and accountability with Tackle Attendance South Bend, a community-driven initiative founded by Moore. Focused on creating a culture of accountability and encouragement, the program unites schools, families, and local partners to provide mentorship, resources, and innovative engagement tools. Tackle Attendance is dedicated to helping students stay engaged, build positive habits, and reach their full potential.
Moore also volunteers for the Black Student Athlete Summit, something he has participated in annually since 2015. He also partners with NDAQ Academie, where he completely funded a new, regulation size basketball court in Dakar, Senegal this past June to expand access opportunities and build a resource that can serve the community for years to come.
