SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Just ahead of the 2026-27 season for Notre Dame swimming and diving, the team announced this year's schedule on Thursday.
The Irish open the campaign on the road at Wisconsin on Oct. 17. Wisconsin visited Notre Dame to start the 2025-26 campaign, and the Irish won six events, including victories for Tommy Janton (100 back), Shane Eckler (100 free) and Daniel Knapp (1-meter), all of whom return this year.
A pair of fall break contests are up next for the Irish. Louisville visits on Oct. 22 before Notre Dame makes the short trek to Evanston to face Northwestern on Oct. 23. Notre Dame defended home turf last year against the Wildcats, winning both the men's and women's meets. Hollie Widdows was a triple winner.
After select swimmers participate in USA Short Course World Championship Trials from Oct. 28-31, the full team will head to the Ohio State Invitational for a pre-Thanksgiving midseason meet from Nov. 17-20.
Notre Dame diving rounds out 2026 with a trip to Midland, Texas for USA Diving Winter Nationals from Dec. 7-15.
Following the Christmas holiday, Notre Dame will have a training trip in Florida and start their new year with a Jan. 4 meet at Tampa. The men's program faced the Spartans last season and earned a 174-88 victory. The Irish won nine events, including seven individual events and a pair of wins from both Eckler (50/100 free) and Jack Armour (100/200 breast).
The Irish's first tri-meet of the season will be at Princeton, as the Tigers will host Notre Dame, Navy and Delaware from Jan. 8-9.
Classes will resume in mid-January, and Notre Dame will host the Tim Welsh Invite from Jan. 22-23. The Saturday portion of the meet will serve as Senior Day.
The Irish postseason will start where the season began in Madison, WI. Wisconsin will host the Badger Invite for both swimming and diving from Feb. 4-6, and select student-athletes will attend.
ACC Championships will be in Greensboro, N.C. from Feb. 16-20. Last year, the men placed ninth as a team, while the women placed 11th.
This year's NCAA Zone C Diving Championships will be March 8-10 in West Lafayette at Purdue.
Finally, Texas will host both the Women's and Men's NCAA Championships. The women will compete March 16-20, and the men will follow from March 23-27.
The Irish saw immense success under first-year Peterson Family Head Coach Mike Norment at NCAA Championships last year. Carli Cronk, now a junior for the Irish, earned All-American Second Team honors with a 10th-place finish in the 200 fly, and the women's 800 free relay composed of Cronk, Emily Hamill, Lainey Mullins and Becky Rentz also earned the designation after taking 16th in the event. As a team, Notre Dame finished tied for 33rd place.
On the men's side, current fifth year Marcus Reyes-Gentry posted the top individual performance of NCAA Championships, finishing seventh in the 100 back and breaking the school record along the way. Fellow current fifth year Daniel Knapp joined Reyes-Gentry in the All-America category, taking 13th in the 3-meter springboard. The Irish took 37th as a team.
