SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 17 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-0-5, 2-0-0) open up conference play with a perfect 2-0 start as they defeated the Boston College Eagles (8-0-1, 1-0-1) in a 4-0 shutout at Alumni Stadium on Friday evening.
The Irish finished the night with four different goal scorers as Ellie Hodsden, Lily Joseph, Grace Restovich, and Charlie Codd each recorded a goal. Restovich scored her first goal of the season in the win and Joseph now leads all Irish players with five goals so far this year.
Junior goalkeeper Sonoma Kasica finished the night with six saves and her second shutout of the season as she leads the ACC with 4.5 saves per game this season.
While the Irish had a great look in the 1st minute on a shot by Codd from the middle of the box, the Irish would score shortly after in the 7th minute. Codd launched a beautiful ball up the field in transition to Hodsden. Hodsden attacked the left side of the box, shooting at the far post where the ball bounced off the post and into the back of the net to put Notre Dame in front 1-0.
In her first game back from representing the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, Joseph picked up right where she left off. Just three minutes after subbing in, Joseph scored her fifth goal of the season on the assist from Riley DeMartino. Joseph’s goal in the 30th minute gave Notre Dame the 2-0 lead.

The Irish would soon lead 3-0 as Engle’s shifty footwork allowed her pass to make it through the Eagles defender and goalkeeper, finding Restovich at the top of the six yard box. Restovich’s right-footed touch found the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 40th minute.

With a 3-0 lead at the half, the Irish remained aggressive in the second 45 minutes of play.
Engle was persistent in her efforts as she had a blocked shot in the 63rd minute and a great opportunity in the 66th minute. Engle played a cross into the box in hopes to find Codd, but the pass was too strong and would result in a Boston College goal kick.
However, in the 75th minute, the forward duo would connect for another Irish goal. While Engle’s shot was saved, it fell right back to feet of Codd, who fired it into the back of the net off of the rebound for Notre Dame’s fourth goal of the night to secure the 4-0 victory.
