SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Senior forward Danny Nelson has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten First Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon. The first and second teams each consist of six players (3 forwards, 2 defensemen and 1 goalie) and are voted on by the league’s coaches.
Nelson produced a career-high 29 points during his junior season, totaling 13 goals and 16 assists. The forward was exceptional on the power play, scoring a team-best seven goals in the 2025-26 campaign.
The Maple Grove, Minnesota, product has appeared in 102 games for the Irish in his career and has amassed 78 points off 35 goals and 43 assists.
Nelson and the Irish get the season underway with a pair of exhibitions next weekend, as they welcome the USNTDP to Compton Family Ice Arena at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 2 and then face Toronto at 4 p.m. ET on Oct. 3.
The season officially begins the following week with a series against Niagara with a pair of 7 p.m. ET starts on Oct. 8 & 9.
