SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Notre Dame volleyball team made quick work of the Syracuse Orange Sunday afternoon, securing the first conference win of the season in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-14. It’s the 31st win all-time against the Orange and the first win in Syracuse since 2022.
The Irish used a steady attack with multiple players contributing throughout the match. Mae Kordas recorded nine kills, one ahead of Sydney Helmers’ eight tallies. Anna Bjork tallied seven kills and seven blocks as she continued to impress down the final stretch of September.
Six different Irish recorded assists, led by 16 from Maya Baker and 15 from Lily Fenton. Notre Dame dished out 40 assists (13.33 per set) as a team.
Notre Dame was sharp defensively, as Maya Evens recorded 16 digs in the back row. Up front, the Irish defense totaled 10 team blocks, highlighted by the seven from Bjork and five from Isabella Sangha.
ACC play continues next week with a pair of meetings against No. 4 Louisville. Notre Dame heads on the road to play the Cardinals on Wednesday, September 30th at 7 p.m. before hosting Louisville on Saturday, October 3rd at 1 p.m. ET. Both matches will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
