

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Coming off its first win of the season, the Notre Dame volleyball team heads back out on the road, this time to face the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens as part of the second annual ‘Showdown at the Net’, which features Atlantic Coast Conference teams taking on teams from the Southeastern Conference. First serve against the Bulldogs is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network + Tuesday night.
Notre Dame dropped Toledo on Saturday in four sets, handing the Rockets their first loss of the season. Sydney Helmers logged a career-high 22 kills to go along with 16 digs to pace the Irish to their ninth win all-time against Toledo.
Georgia is the lone SEC opponent on Notre Dame’s schedule this season. The Irish hosted LSU last season at Purcell Pavilion in the inaugural ‘Showdown at the Net’.
Notre Dame 2-4 historically against Georgia and will be looking for their first win in Athens in just its second attempt. The two teams last met up on September 21, 2013 at the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas. The Irish fell in four sets. Notre Dame’s last win over Georgia came on September 4, 1998, winning in five sets in South Bend.
