EVANSTON, Ill. - Junior goaltender Nicholas Kempf was named the Big Ten Third Star of the week on Tuesday following two standout opening weekend performances that led the Irish to a sweep over Niagara.
This marks the second time Kempf has been selected as a Big Ten Star of the Week, also accomplishing the feat last season.

Kempf recorded a shutout win on Friday evening, posting 26 saves to follow up his 24-save performance in the season opener.
Kempf and the Irish hit the road for the first time this season with a Friday night showdown in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as they take on No. 8 Western Michigan at 7 p.m. ET.
The Irish and Broncos will then head to Compton Family Ice Arena for the second game of the series at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 17. The game will air on Peacock and fans can purchase tickets for the game here.
