SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame swimming and diving continues its regular season competition this week, as the Irish host Louisville on Thursday at the Rolfs Aquatics Center and head to Northwestern on Friday for a regional matchup.
Notre Dame is coming off a season opener at Wisconsin. While the Irish fell to the 22nd-ranked Badgers on the men's side and the 14th-ranked Badgers on the women's side, there were several notable performances.
Daniel Knapp won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events en route to his second career ACC Diver of the Week honor. The fifth year is coming off of an All-American season last season, during which he placed 13th in the 3-meter at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
On the swimming side, both Shane Eckler (50 free/100 fly) and Hollie Widdows (100 free/100 fly) earned a pair of wins each. Widdows went a best time of 52.88 in the 100 fly, which now ranks eighth in program history. Eckler added a 100 fly performance of 45.99 himself, also eighth in program history.
Louisville — 2:30 p.m. ET // Rolfs Aquatics Center
The Louisville men arrive in South Bend as the No. 12 team in the country, per the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Top 25. On the women's side, Louisville is the No. 8 team in the nation.
The Cardinals are coming off of a third-place finish in their second College Swimming League match on Oct. 9. Louisville won five individual events at the match. Louisville opened its season by sweeping Xavier on Oct. 2.
The Cardinals are a familiar foe for the Irish, as the teams have faced off in each of the last four seasons. Results for Thursday's meet will be available on the Meet Mobile app.
Northwestern — 3 p.m. ET // Norris Aquatics Center
On Friday, Notre Dame will travel to Evanston. The Northwestern men are ranked 16th in the nation per CSCAA, while the women are unranked.
On the men's side, Northwestern is coming off a pair of losses at the hands of No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Indiana on Oct. 9, but the Wildcats downed Miami (OH) in their season opener on Oct. 3. The women are in the same boat; they topped Miami (OH) but fell to No. 3 Texas and No. 5 Indiana last week.
Notre Dame defended home turf last season against Northwestern, sweeping the visiting Wildcats at Rolfs Aquatics Center. The Irish won 18 events on the afternoon.
