COLUMBUS, Ohio — Championship season for Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving starts this week, as nine Irish swimmers will head to Columbus for the Ohio State Winter Invite from Feb. 14-16. The group will compete against regional foes Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Pittsburgh and Purdue on the women’s side.
Gretchen Lueking was a highlight at this meet last year, as the then-sophomore won the 100 free (50.21), 200 free (1:48.83) and 200 IM (2:00.93). Her IM time was a personal best. Lueking is once again the top seed in the 200 IM with her top time this year, 2:03.21.
Four additional swimmers who are on this year’s team won events at that meet as well — Reese Lugbill (100 breast), Madeline Menkhaus (200 fly), Abby O’Sullivan (500 free and 400 IM) and Julieta Tracy (2:00.45). Lugbill is the top seed in the 200 breast this weekend, and Menkhaus is the top seed in the 200 fly.
