WASHINGTON (AP) – Alicia Ratay had 24 points and seven rebounds, and No. 22 Notre Dame overcame a halftime deficit and cruised to an 86-66 victory Saturday over Georgetown.
Ratay made six of 11 shots, including four of seven 3-pointers, and was perfect on eight free throws for Notre Dame (19-7, 13-2 Big East). Allison Bustamante and Katy Flecky added 14 points apiece for the Irish, who also got 13 from Ericka Haney.
Nok Duany scored 21 points to lead Georgetown (12-14, 4-11), which has lost 12 of its last 16 games. Rebekkah Brunson added 13 points and nine rebounds. Mary Lisicky scored 11 points for the Hoyas.
Ratay hit a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer to give Notre Dame, which trailed by a point at halftime, a 47-42 lead with 16:40 remaining.
Duany scored five points as Georgetown responded with a 7-0 run, capped by her jumper at 13:47 that pulled the Hoyas within 50-49. But they never reclaimed the lead they held for much of the first half.
Lisicky scored nine of Georgetown’s first 14 points, including consecutive 3-pointers to give the Hoyas a 14-8 lead. Katy Flecky had consecutive baskets to bring Notre Dame within 23-21 with 7:06 remaining in the first half.
Suzy Bendegue scored five straight points to give Georgetown a 28-21 lead with 6:08 left in the half. After Duany scored the Hoyas’ final eight points of the half, Bustamante hit a 3-pointer to pull the Irish to a 38-37 halftime deficit.
