STORRS, Conn. — One of women’s college basketball’s premier rivalries will play out on the court once again on Monday night, as No. 23 Notre Dame (12-5) visits No. 1 Connecticut (18-0) at Gampel Pavilion. Krista Blunk and Christy Winters Scott will have the call on FOX for the 5 p.m. tip off.
NOTES
- The Irish are coming off their first home loss of the season, a 66-79 defeat at the hands of No. 9 Louisville on Thursday night. Hannah Hidalgo led all scorers with 24 points and eight assists.
- Hidalgo continues to pace the ACC in scoring (25.0) and the nation in steals (5.7). She has 375 career steals, just shy of the program record held by Skylar Diggins (381). Hidalgo has also scored 10+ points in all 84 games of her career and is tied with Iowa State’s Audi Crooks for the longest active double-figure streak in women’s basketball.
- Cassandre Prosper has posted a double-double in six of the last nine games and is averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per game in her last 10 contests.
- Iyana Moore leads the ACC in conference play with 3.4 made triples per game and a 57.1 percent success rate from beyond the arc.
- The Irish rank in the top 20 nationally in steals/game (14.8, ranked eighth), scoring offense (83.6, ranked 16th), field goal percentage (48.2, ranked 13th), free throw percentage (78.8, ranked eighth) and turnover margin (8.1, ranked 16th). They lead the ACC in all of those categories.
- Notre Dame is 16-39 all-time against UConn, but the Irish have won the last three contests by double-figures.
