WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Notre Dame will play its first road game of the season this weekend, as the No. 6 Irish (1-0) head south to face Purdue (1-0) on Sunday night. Notre Dame played the Boilermakers last season and won 76-39 behind Hannah Hidalgo’s 23 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals.

This time around, Purdue will have to face Hidalgo and Olivia Miles in the backcourt, arguably the nation’s most lethal guard duo. In addition to Hidalgo’s 19 points and 6 steals on Monday against Mercyhurst, Miles posted a 20-10-10 triple-double in a 105-61 rout.

Sunday will be fans’ second chance to see both Liatu King and Kate Koval in action after they impressed in their Irish debuts. King had 24 points and 11 rebounds against Mercyhurst, both of which led the team. Koval had 18 points and 5 blocks, becoming the first Irish player since 2007 to post 5 blocks in a season opener. The bigs combined for a 20-24 evening from the floor.

Purdue played its opener against Purdue Fort Wayne and won 87-77. Destini Lombard led the charge with 20 points and an 8-12 night from the floor. Freshman forward Lana McCarthy had a memorable debut with 18 points of her own.

Of note, last year’s leading scorers Abbey Ellis and Caitlyn Harper have moved on from Purdue.

Sunday’s game will air on FS1 and tip off at 7 p.m. Notre Dame is 14-14 all-time against Purdue.
