SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame football program has announced a two-game series in 2028 and 2029 with the University of Texas.
Notre Dame will host Texas on Sept. 9, 2028, and the Irish will travel to Austin for a game on Sept. 22, 2029. Game times and broadcast networks will be announced at a later date.
Notre Dame holds a 9-3 record all-time with Texas, owning a 3-1 lead at home and 4-1 record on the road, with a 2-1 record at neutral sites. The most recent meeting between the two teams came in 2016, a narrow 47-50 Notre Dame loss in double overtime at Texas.
In the 12 previous matchups between the two programs, Notre Dame has been ranked in nine of the games, and both teams have been ranked in seven of the meetings. The first game between the teams came in 1913 at Texas, a 30-7 Notre Dame win.
Notre Dame is 49-26 all-time against SEC opponents. Notre Dame’s most recent SEC matchup came in the 2024 season opener, a 23-13 road victory at No. 20 Texas A&M.
