Notre Dame Falls Sunday Night

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Notre Dame softball team dropped Sunday’s finale to 12th-ranked Virginia Tech 15-1 in five innings. The Irish are now 19-24-1 overall and 6-12 in ACC play.

Notre Dame got on the board courtesy of an RBI groundout from Caroline O’Brien to score Christina Willemssen in the top of the third.

Anna Holloway and Rebecca Eckart each had two hits on the evening. It was the sixth multi-hit game of the year for Holloway and the first career multi-hit achievement for Eckart.

Virginia Tech plated eight in the first inning off six hits, hitting two home runs. They scored seven more in the third. 

The Irish will look to bounce back Tuesday at Michigan State in East Lansing. The game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Big Ten Network Plus.
