BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Emily Waner hit a 3-pointer with 12.6 seconds left in overtime, and Tera Bjorklund had 21 points and eight rebounds as No. 20 Colorado beat No. 15 Notre Dame 67-63 Saturday night in the championship game of the WBCA Classic.
Waner, who had 10 points, had given Colorado (2-0) a 62-61 lead with a 3-pointer with 1:55 left. Teresa Borton converted two free throws to put Notre Dame (1-1) ahead 63-62, but Jacqueline Batteast turned the ball over in the last three seconds after Waner’s 3-pointer.
Le’Tania Severe led Notre Dame with 14 points. Batteast added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Buffaloes sent the game into overtime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Veronica Johns-Richardson, tying the score at 55.
Megan Duffy had a chance to seal the win for Notre Dame with 19 seconds left in regulation but missed the front end of one-and-one free throws.
Severe and Duffy had 10 points each.
Notre Dame led 37-33 at halftime after opening the game with a 12-0 run. The Buffaloes came as close as 34-33 after two free throws by Kate Fagan with 20 seconds remaining, but Severe got an offensive rebound and beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer.
