BATON ROUGE, La. — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team finished 11th of 15 teams at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic today. For the second week in a row, senior Kristina Nhim was at the top of the Irish leaderboard.

“Overall this weekend we had several players put together some solid rounds, but we need four scores each round and we are still coming up short,” said head coach Susan Holt. “If we are going to be competitive every time we tee it up, we need more low scores.”

Although the tournament was originally supposed to take place over three days, it was restructured to avoid storms expected tomorrow. The golfers had to complete both round two and round three today, walking 36 holes.

Though she had a rough first round yesterday, Nhim had a great showing today, shooting 74 (+2) and 69 (-3) in her second and third rounds. She finished with a score of 224, eight above par, and tied for 13th place individually.

Freshman Jordan Ferreira also improved steadily over the course of the three rounds, ending with an 11-above-par score of 227 (79-75-73), tying for 20th place.

“It was good that we improved each round,” Holt added. “It shows they are learning and managing the golf course better with every round they play.”

Sophomore Talia Campbell tied for 48th place with a score of 234 (80-79-75), and junior Ashley Armstrong finished in a tie for 53rd after carding a score of 236 (+20). Junior Kelli Oride rounded out the Irish team with a score of 243.

The Irish will have two weeks before they travel to Oxford, Miss., for the Rebel Intercollegiate.
