BATON ROUGE, La. — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team finished day one at the LSU Golf Classic tied for 13th. They finished the day with a 30-above-par score of 318. In first place after the first day is Purdue, which shot for 297 (+9).

While the tournament was scheduled to go for three days, LSU has restructured the tournament to get in all 36 remaining holes tomorrow in an effort to avoid storms expected to move in Sunday.

“Today was very disappointing,” said head coach Susan Holt. “Bottom line is we all need to play better and get it done tomorrow. We are playing 36 holes tomorrow and we need all 36 holes to get a respectable finish out of this.”

Junior Kelli Oride and freshman Jordan Ferreira lead the Irish board with finishes of 79 (+7), making them tied for 41st place individually. Following them are junior Ashley Armstrong and sophomore Talia Campbell, both of whom shot rounds of 80 (+8), tying for 56th place.

Senior Kristina Nhim’s score of 81 (+9) did not go toward the team score for the day, and freshman Janie Fineis, who is competing individually, finished the day with a score of 78 (+6).

The Irish tee off again tomorrow morning for a very busy day of golf with 36 holes. Live results can be found on BirdieFire and results at the end of the tournament will be posted here on UND.com.
