Notre Dame Football Announces Series with BYU

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame football team has announced that Notre Dame and Brigham Young University will play at Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah in 2026, and at Notre Dame Stadium in 2027 in a home-and-home series. Specific dates and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

The two programs have met on nine previous occasions as the Irish lead the all-time series 7-2. The series is tied at one win apiece in Provo while Notre Dame has a 5-1 advantage at home against BYU. Most recently, the Irish took a 28-20 win over the No. 16 ranked Cougars in the 2022 Shamrock Series contest at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. 

The Irish have been ranked on five occasions while the Cougars have been ranked once in the all-time matchups between the two teams. The teams first faced off against one another on October 24, 1992 at Notre Dame Stadium as the No. 10 Irish prevailed 42-16. Notre Dame’s first trip to Provo came on October 16, 1993 and saw the No. 3 ranked Irish win 45-20.  

Notre Dame is 29-9-1 against current Big 12 teams all-time. The Irish have faced BYU more than any other current Big 12 member in the history of Notre Dame football.
