Notre Dame Makes A Move Up Leaderboard At Tar Heel Invitational

Second Round Results

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — University of Notre Dame sophomore Talia Campbell continued her steady weekend performance at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Saturday at the UNC Finley Golf Course. After leading the Irish squad on Friday with a one-over 73, she carded an even par 72 in the second round to climb into a tie for 19th place overall (73-72-145).

Notre Dame posted a team score of 294, making its total for the weekend to 599 (305-294), pushing the Irish into 17th place on the leaderboard.

Duke pulled ahead of the pack of 18 teams with a two-round total of 568 (-8). The team in second place, Alabama, fired a total team score of 580, four over par and 12 strokes behind Duke. Rounding out the top five are third place Oklahoma (582) and Vanderbilt and Clemson, who are each tied for fifth with 584.

Junior Ashley Armstrong tied Campbell for the low Notre Dame round of the day with an even par 72. Armstrong is tied for 32nd place at three over par (75-72-147) entering the final round.

Senior Kristina Nhim and freshman Jordan Ferreira are tied for 77th place after Nhim posted a second round 76 (78-76-154) and Ferreira logged a score of 75 (79-75-154). Junior Kelli Oride also moved up to a tie for 88th place on the leaderboard with a score of 75 (82-75-157).

The third and final round of the Tar Heel Invitational is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. (ET). Check back in at UND.com for the final tournament results.
