CAMARILLO, Calif. – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team finished runners-up at the MSU SoCal Spring Invitational out of 15 teams over the weekend in California. The Irish capped a strong weekend with individual round scores of 301 (+17), 285 (+1), and 289 (+5) to finish the tournament with a final team score of 875 (+23).
Alex Lapple was the leader for Notre Dame over the course of the tournament, finishing first overall with a score of 210 (-3). The junior was consistent throughout the weekend with a second round highlight score of 67 (-4) to sit at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Alex closed out the tournament with a third round score of 71 (E) to seal her individual victory and lead the team to a runners-up team finish.
Bridget Wilkie tallied a 221 (+8) score to earn a finish tied for 16th overall. Wilkie began the tournament with an opening round score of 75 (+4) and then improved with a second round mark of 74 (+3). The sophomore tallied a final round score of 72 (+1) to secure the top-16 finish.
Jordan Levitt followed with a 222 (+9) across the three rounds to place in a tie for 19th overall. Levitt opened her tournament with a score of 77 (+6) after the first 18 holes and came back with a line of 73 (+2) after the second round. The freshman posted a closing score of 72 (+1) in the final round to close out the tournament.
Maddy Bante finished the week with an overall finish tied for 23rd overall after recording a score of 225 (+12). Bante posted a first round mark of 77 (+6) before notching a score of 74 (+3) across the second and third rounds each to round out the three-day event.
Sawyer Brockstedt wrapped up the Irish lineup with a finish of 228 (+15) tied for 35th overall. The freshman recorded scores of 79 (+8), 71 (E), and 78 (+7) across the 54 holes.
Notre Dame returns to action March 16-17 for the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Briar’s Creek, South Carolina hosted by the College of Charleston.
